There are many different volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups.
There are many volunteer opportunities available at the Lake County Haven. Below is a listing of a few such opportunities. If you have a unique talent or skill that you’d like to provide to the Haven, just contact us. Chances are that we need it!
We need volunteers to help plan and organize events such as holiday events, our spring fundraiser, and our holiday boutique. These events are hosted by our Women’s Auxiliary, a great way to have fun, make new friends, and support a great cause.
Are you an expert grocery shopper? The Haven is in need of volunteers to grocery shop on Sundays between 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. The Haven supplies the grocery list and gift cards, and volunteers will go out and shop and return items to the shelter. Sign up through our Volunteer Coordinator, or click here to sign up online.
On Saturday and Sundays, the Haven needs help taking inventory of the food items in our shelter. Volunteers will work to help us formulate a grocery list based upon the week’s meal plan and the food we have on hand. For more information, volunteers can contact our Volunteer Coordinator.
Donate A Meal
Volunteers can sign up to donate a meal at our shelter (to feed ten residents) on a day of their choosing. This is one of the most popular programs at the Haven, and our residents love it! Meal donations can be dropped off hot at 5:00 pm, or with re-heating instructions. Sign up through our Volunteer Coordinator, or click here to donate online.
Donate Two Bags of Produce
Volunteers can sign up to donate two bags of fresh produce for our shelter to be used in weekly meal planning. Produce drop-offs occur on Wednesdays at 5:00 pm. Sign up through our Volunteer Coordinator, or click here to sign up online.
The Haven is always in need of volunteers to help hang flyers in all Lake County communities. Coordinate with our Volunteer Coordinator to pick a city you’d like to help with, and she will provide flyers and further direction on where to hang and/or distribute materials.
Handwriting and Office Work
Occasionally, volunteers are needed in the Haven’s administrative office. Volunteers may work on projects like helping hand-write notes, putting together mailings, organizing supplies or other light clerical projects.
Occasionally there is a need for professionals to offer services to Haven residents or to the agency. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator to learn more.
Teams of Volunteers
If you belong to a group that is looking for a project, there are many additional opportunities available such as Wish List drives, larger projects at the shelter, and conducting special events to benefit the Haven such as a bake sale, car wash, etc.
The Lake County Haven volunteer application is available here. All pages must be completed and signed in order to be eligible for consideration. ♥
